Character Name: James "Logan" Howlett

Personality:
Logan is gruff, angry, and wild. He can seem like a total asshole most of the time, but he really does care for the people he deems friends. He is fiercely loyal and protective, and will kill anyone who tries to hurt the ones he cares for. His sense of justice is an eye for an eye, and he will collect on it if necessary. "Don't mess with the wolverine, unless you want the claws."

History:
Born to John and Elizabeth Howlett in the mid 19th century in Aberta, Canada James Howlett was a frail boy. He lived on his parents estate and often played with his two friends, Rose and Dog. His mother was a mentally unstable woman, and after an attack from Dog's father Thomas and John's murder of the drunken man which led to James's mutation manifesting as he attacked the intruders with uncharacteristic ferocity. This led to Elizabeth killing herself, and Rose and James running away from the estate.

After running away, James and Rose took up in British Columbia in a mining community. This lead to James's mutation growing further. Dog eventually found Rose and James, reminding James of his past. the two fought and Rose ended up dying along with Dog as James over powered him. James then lived in the forest with a pack of wolves for years after that, with no real record of this time it's hard to tell exactly what he did during those many years.

During his time in the mining town, he had dawned the name Logan, and it stuck. Eventually he joined a military group which ended up with his acquiring his adamantium skeleton and joining the Weapon X assassins program. Later abandoning the program and wondering around for awhile as a loner, Charles contacted him about joining his team, and he has been with the X Men ever since.

Powers and Abilities:
Wolverine is a mutant who possesses the ability to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his cellular structure at a rate far greater than that of an ordinary human. The speed at which this healing factor works varies in direct proportion with the severity of the damage Wolverine suffers. For example, he can fully recover from an ordinary gunshot wound in a non-vital area of his body within minutes.Wolverine also possesses superhumanly acute senses, making him capable of seeing things at a maximum distance greater than a normal human’s. His hearing is enhanced in a similar manner, and he is able to recognize people and objects by scent, even if that person or object is hidden. Wolverine can use these enhanced senses to track any creature with an impressive degree of success.

Wolverine’s skeleton includes six retractable one-foot long bone claws, three in each arm, that are housed beneath the skin and muscle of his forearms. Wolverine can, at will, release these slightly curved claws through his skin beneath the knuckles on each hand. The skin between the knuckles tears and bleeds, but the blood loss is quickly halted by his healing factor. Wolverine can unsheathe any number of his claws at once, although he must keep his wrists straight at the moment his claws shoot from his forearms into his hands. When unsheathed, the claws are fully within his hands, and thus Wolverine can still bend his wrists. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than that of normal human bone structure, allowing Wolverine to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials.

He would rather work outside with his hands than be stuck in the institute giving lessons to punks who don't listen, and enjoys a good beer and relaxing every now and then.
